HDF – Hungarian Defence Forces: How to paint a Leopard?

While I’m working on the next post about the Royal Police I run into the news, that the 25th Brigade, which operates the Hungarian Defence Forces’ new Leopard 2A4s, because of the great interest, contacted the Krauss-Maffei Wegmann factory and asked for the official paint scheme and colours.

The camo scheme consists of 4 colours, but all vehicles have a unique pattern. The colours, with RAL numbers and Vallejo equivalents, plus their percentage in the scheme:
1. NATO Green as base colour, 40-50% (RAL 6031, Vallejo 71.250)
2. Grey brown, 20-25% (RAL 7013, Vallejo 71.249 but I am not 100% in this)
3. Grey, 5-10% (RAL 7016, Vallejo 71.115)
4. Beige, 5-10% (RAL 1001, Vallejo 71.075)

As supply and demand dictates the Hungarian HAD Model manufacturer released a decal set for the new Leos in 1/35 scale. So if it suites you, don’t hesitate to check their website: https://www.hadmodels.com/035038-leopard-2a4hu-in-hungarian-service-from-2020—decal-sheet-135

Have a nice a painting! 🙂
